Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Authorities Press On With Search for Killer.

Two students who were killed in the weekend's violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow on social media, stating: “Words cannot express. Remembering her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, according to relatives.

His name was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The gunman began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a police source reported to the news agency.

Officers that searched the inn recovered a pair of pistols and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, as was reported.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, a single scholar was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only during her upbringing... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his bright future.”
