Female Victim Knifed in Birmingham City Bus Shelter Attack Dies
The female victim stabbed repeatedly in the neck during a random assault near a bus shelter within Birmingham has passed away, authorities verified.
The victim, aged 34 years, was targeted in Smallbrook Queensway, right beside Bullring shopping complex, just prior to 21:00 GMT on Friday, West Midlands Police said.
Djeison Rafael, twenty-one, appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday, charged over the violent incident.
He was previously accused of attempted murder but following the victim's passing the charge has been updated to include murder.
Law Enforcement Actions
Authorities stated police personnel will remain around the city centre on Monday to offer reassurance, while detectives assisted the victim's relatives.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the accused, who is described as British citizen of Black ethnicity, and is believed to have been wearing grey athletic wear, black hat, athletic shoes and rucksack.

The stabbing happened outside Bullring retail complex, opposite the main entrance of New Street railway station.
Law enforcement confirmed they classified it as "unprovoked attack" with investigators stating they were working to understand why it happened.
Eyewitness Reports
An area worker, who works nearby, described paramedic and police activity after completing her work period at about 22:00 on Friday.
She characterized the location as extremely disorderly, and said co-workers reported hearing loud disturbances at about 21:00.
"Many my colleagues take public transport, ride the tramline... our safety is at risk essentially, in the downtown area."
Another individual, 25, from Stoke-on-Trent, mentioned visiting to Birmingham fairly regularly to see his girlfriend resident there, expressing concern about what had happened.
"It makes me worried about my partner," he stated.
"She lacks transportation and works at major concert locations... considering a totally random act occurred, understandably, it's terrible."
