BF6 Players Are Convinced: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started resorting to tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four types of assignments, but where most simply offer outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 main guns available in the game.
Several of these gated guns might eventually make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Ridiculously Tough Task
A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map at a push if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
Currently, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced overall gameplay in future updates.
