It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.
