It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
